The Arteon is out of production, which means that every example that comes onto the market is one from a limited stock. On this page you can see all the damaged Arteons offered by our affiliated car dealers, traders and dismantling companies in the Netherlands and abroad. That saves you a long trawl through separate used car sites. Set the filters for year of manufacture, engine option or type of damage and then contact the seller yourself.
What you find here is determined by our partners’ buying, and that changes from day to day. The Arteon was on sale from 2017 to 2024, was facelifted in 2020 and gained the Shooting Brake at that point. Over those years it came with petrol and diesel engines, as a plug-in hybrid and as the sporty R. Which version you come across determines both the value and the parts supply.
The fastback is the version the model started with: a five-door coupé with a large tailgate. Under the bonnet was a 1.5 or 2.0 TSI petrol or a 2.0 TDI diesel, with outputs of 150 to 280 hp and, depending on the trim level, 4MOTION four-wheel drive.
These cars have often been driven for business and are technically in good shape. That is precisely why it pays to ask for the service history; with this model it accounts for a good part of the residual value.
From 2020 an estate version was added, which Volkswagen called the Shooting Brake. It shares its mechanicals with the fastback, but has a longer roofline and therefore more space in the rear. In the Netherlands it was mostly delivered as a company car.
If you are considering a Shooting Brake with damage, you would do well to inspect the tailgate and the rear quarter panel. Those are the most expensive parts of this body.
Two special versions sat at the top of the range. The eHybrid is a plug-in hybrid with 218 hp and a battery under the rear seat, aimed at business drivers. The Arteon R goes in a very different direction: 320 hp, 4MOTION and a chassis with a sports differential on the rear axle.
There are considerably fewer of both versions around. If one does come along, it is usually a car with light damage, where it is mainly the model-specific parts that determine the cost.
With the eHybrid there is the added point that the battery pack sits under the rear seat. A rear-end collision therefore calls for a check by an approved repairer.
We do not publish a fixed stock list online. You decide for yourself what your Volkswagen Arteon salvage car must meet, and you then see straight away whether anything suitable is on offer at the moment:
Nothing listed today? That may be different next week. Save your search or the link to this page and check back every so often, and you will see it as soon as one of our partners lists one.
Does a car catch your eye? Then open the listing. In it you will find detailed photos, the full description of the damage and the contact details of the seller.
A large five-door with a low nose needs assessing differently from a tall SUV. Four points determine whether you end up with a bargain or a liability on your hands.
The Arteon has a wide grille into which the headlights are integrated, and on the later examples these are IQ.Light matrix headlights. They are expensive, and because they extend so far towards the centre, front-end damage almost always affects them.
Ask the seller specifically about the condition of the grille, the headlights and the radar behind it. That determines a large part of the repair costs.
Many Arteons run on 19 or 20-inch wheels with adaptive damping. A kerb strike or a collision at wheel level can then hit both the wheel rim and a shock absorber. Through our platform you can get those parts from a salvage vehicle for a fraction of the new price, and that makes a considerable saving.
The term refers purely to a calculation: the insurer estimates the repair costs at more than the car’s market value at the time of the loss. With a model that is out of production and has therefore lost value, that threshold is reached sooner than you would expect.
Weigh up for each vehicle whether repair is worthwhile or whether the value lies more in the individual parts: the engine, the DSG automatic gearbox, the matrix headlights or the complete interior.
Use the VIN to uncover the damage history. Also ask for the inspection reports from the insurer or an approved repairer and, with an eHybrid, about the condition of the battery pack. A complete file makes re-registration and export to Belgium, Germany or Poland a good deal smoother.
Lastly, check that the vehicle register reports no block on the car.
With a salvage car, who you buy from is at least as important as what you buy. That is why we make room only for approved dealers affiliated with organisations such as the Vereniging Schadevoertuighandel (VSV) and the Stichting Verzekeringsbureau Voertuigcriminaliteit (VbV). A considerable part of their stock comes directly from insurers, so the car’s provenance is established.
Every Volkswagen Arteon salvage car on our platform comes with clear photos and detailed specifications. That way you can see in advance whether it is only superficial bodywork damage or whether there is more going on, for example with the drivetrain or the lighting.
Do you want to see more than the listing shows? Ask the dealer for photos of the engine bay and the boot, because they let you establish whether the impact has reached the structural parts.
There is no middleman between you and the dealer, and you notice that in the price and in the pace of the process. In addition, an Arteon with damage costs considerably less than a comparable example without. What else we offer you:
From businesses buying for repair or export to private buyers looking for a large Volkswagen within their budget: the buyers here vary. Do you recognise your situation below?
Getting a damaged car back on the road usually takes more time searching than repairing. That is why, alongside the vehicle, you will also find Volkswagen salvage cars and high-quality used car parts for this specific model.
That way, the car and the parts come from the same network. That saves you hunting round the suppliers and, with a model that is no longer built, often a long lead time as well.
Are you buying as a business? Then from a single account you keep an eye on both the incoming stock and the available donor vehicles.
“Every salvage car dealer in our network is selected in advance and continually replenishes their stock. As a result, the listings on this page are always current and varied: what is not here today may well be here tomorrow. With a model that is out of production, their market knowledge also counts for a great deal: they tell you exactly what the damage means for repair costs and residual value.”
Repairing a damaged Arteon with used parts is economical and sustainable at the same time. Putting an existing car back on the road takes far fewer raw materials than building a new one.
With a model that is no longer in production, that counts double. Every example that stays on the road keeps up the supply of usable parts for all the other Arteons on the road. Panels, headlights and interior parts that are still good therefore belong on another car and not in the shredder. We are glad to support that reuse.
Do you have a question about one specific Volkswagen Arteon with us, for example about the damage history, the condition of the matrix headlights or the service history? Put that question to the dealer offering the car; the dealer can give you an answer straight away.
The dealer’s telephone number and email address can be found alongside the listing.
Is your question about buying a salvage car in general? Then start with our page with the frequently asked questions from users. If that does not answer your question, feel free to email us; the contact details are on the customer service page.
No. The stock comes from our affiliated partners and changes from day to day, and no new Arteons have been built since 2024. Save your search or the link to this page and check back regularly, and you will see it as soon as one is listed.
That depends on the impact. If the housing stays intact, such a unit almost always still works and has a substantial residual value. A cracked housing or a damaged control module is a problem, however. So ask for detailed photos of both headlights.
It means that the insurer estimates the repair as costing more than the car is worth at the moment. Because the market value of this model has since dropped while the parts remain expensive, that threshold comes into view quickly. Technically, there is often little wrong with the car at that point.
For the mechanical components, yes, because the Arteon shares a lot with the Passat and other models on the same platform. It gets harder with model-specific parts such as the grille, the headlights and the Shooting Brake tailgate; for those, a salvage vehicle from our stock will usually get you to the right part fastest.
Yes, provided the export documentation and the damage history are in order. If the car is going to Belgium, Germany or Poland, you need the complete registration document for re-registration. Check beforehand whether an outstanding claim has caused a block on the car.
No. As a platform we bring supply and demand together, while the sale rests with our partner. Any warranty therefore comes from the dealer offering the car; make those arrangements directly with the dealer.
